HAL

HAL (Hyper Articles en Ligne) is a French multidisciplinary open archive for the deposit and dissemination of scholarly documents, whether published or not. Created and operated by the Centre pour la Communication Scientifique Directe (CCSD), a unit of the CNRS, HAL spans all academic disciplines (humanities and social sciences, exact sciences, medicine, etc.) and is one of France's main open-science infrastructures.

Each HAL deposit carries a persistent identifier (e.g. hal-XXXXXXX) and a standardized bibliographic record (author, title, abstract, keywords, licence). Documents are uploaded under the responsibility of their authors, who select the applicable distribution licence (Creative Commons or all rights reserved).

HAL includes several specialized portals and instances, including HAL-SHS for the humanities and social sciences — the instance on which several of D. Savelli's works on Nicholas Roerich and his circle are deposited.
